Can't Handle The Truth... That's OK, We Weren't Going To Let You Have It Anyway

As you are most likely aware of, the Harper government has a fetish for secrecy. Whether it is quietly conducting trade talks while keeping the opposition in parliament and the Canadian people in the dark, having committees go in camera to kill investigations into it's alleged misdeeds or refusing to provide spending estimates for it's agenda to Parliament for which it was found in contempt, secrecy is the name of the game.

While all of that gives cause for concern, of a much larger concern for me is that a significant portion of the electorate seems to be just fine with it.In fact many are more than just fine, they actually want it this way, lest they be forced to wake up and start becoming engaged not just with politics but with society in general.

This inability or unwillingness to deal with the ugly truth about what our society has become and the harm that is being done to so many, is what I believe Harper has tapped into and is exploiting to his advantage. Waking these people up and forcing them to confront their role in their own oppression is my biggest hope for the Occupy movement. If the Occupy movement can accomplish this one thing then it will be a huge success

Wish them luck
