A Progressive's Lament: Debating the obvious with the obtuse

I have noticed a marked increase in the amount of traffic from right wingers that I have been getting on Twitter lately. I won't call them trolls because to me a troll is someone who deliberately attempts to distract and disrupt a thread and the people I have been encountering seem to truly believe the nonsense they are spouting.

These are the people who have bought the propaganda hook, line and sinker and support the NeoLiberal policies that are destructive to them and their families as well as the rest of us.  No amount of reason, logic or actual facts seem to deter them. Eventually they will get angry and start spouting insults or they will give up and go away,but the most frustrating among them will simply double down on their illogic.

As frustrating as interacting with them gets we must continue to engage them, for as Orwell's Bastard said over at his place, these are the people we have to get to if we are ever to turn this thing around to our advantage,which is why I don't block them when the follow me.Merely curling up in our cocoons only dialoguing with those who think as we do will not get the job done,in fact we must begin to engage them on their own turf just as they do us on ours.

So stiffen your spines and let's get to it , we have a ton of work ahead of us if we are to succeed as we must
