Hillary Pullls A Palin

In a statement more reminiscent of something Sarah Palin would utter, Hillary Clinton says the US can't legalize drugs because "there is just too much money in it.". Well DUH!, did she ever stop to think that the reason drug lords make so much money selling illegal drugs is because, well they're illegal in the first place. In another Palinesque moment, she also opines that legalization will lead drug dealers to "find it in their interest to addict even more young people." That is just plain bizarre to say the least, the point of  legalizing  drugs is to eliminate the profits for the criminal element( drug dealers), no profits, no dealers, fairly simple concept. As for the canard that legalization will lead to increased use, you only need to look as far as Portugal to see that the opposite is true.

  1. To paraphrase one US Senator during the repeal of prohibition in the 1930s: "Legalize it, tax it, and control it AND we shall all reap the rewards!"

  2. Yes plus add to the tax revenue the savings from law enforcement, prosecution and incarceration and we are likely talking a billion or two.( likely more since the government of Ontario reaps approx.a billion from the sale of alcohol exclusive of taxes) Funds which could be channeled into mental health and addiction treatment programs that would actually be of benefit to society, not to mention the benefits of not criminalizing people who are of little or no harm.
