Pick an issue, any issue

There doesn't seem to be a day go by where there isn't a new revelation about Conservative malfeasance, hell some days they seem to crop up hourly, there have already been so many it is hard to keep track. One would think this would be a bad thing for  Harper and his minions however it has in fact worked to their benefit.

As each new affront to our democracy appears the opposition takes it's cue and bellows with outrage, understandably so, that is their role in our system. The problem though is that by not being selective in their approach they never spend enough time on any single issue for it to become hard wired into the public's conscientiousness.

Adscam didn't take the Liberals down overnight, it took at least a couple years of constant attention before it gained the necessary traction in the public's mind.

I'm not suggesting the opposition ignore issues as they arise but they do however need to pick an issue or two and hammer away at them incessantly until they become synonymous with the Conservatives just as Adscam is with the Liberals.

And for gawd sake stop chasing squirrels such as Harper's attacks on the NDP over the Senate. They are nothing but distractions and responding to them puts you on the defensive, right where Harper wants you.
