Many of my Liberal friends like to blame Jack Layton and the NDP for the death of the Kelowna Accord, our lack of a national childcare program etc etc yadda yadda yadda
by bringing down the Martin government. There are many flaws in this argument not the least of which is that no one forced folks to vote for Harper and his band of ne'er-do-wells
The Liberals of the time were a spent force not to mention scandal ridden, anyone remember the sponsorship scandal, and in the minds of many had forfeited the right to govern. To argue otherwise would be hypocritical given how strongly we criticize Harper's supporters for sticking with him no matter how bad the stink gets.
Now if I wanted to play that same game I could point out that Harper would not have his majority today if the right wing of the Liberal Party hadn't fled to Harper in the first place. But I won't because there is only one person responsible for the shit Harper did/does and that is Harper himself
