Paradise Drowned

Kiribati isn't the only nation feeling the effects of rising sea levels,in fact millions of people have already or will be displaced by rising sea levels. They are among the poorest of us and among those who have least contributed to  climate change.

Tuvalu is one of those places. Tuvalu traditionally has experienced flooding for about two months out of the year, currently the floods are occurring over a six month period. The flood season is not only lasting longer but the flooding is more severe and frequent. Not only are the waters washing ashore but salt water is also peculating up through the ground causing difficulties in growing food.

Tuvalu has a rich, peaceful and vibrant culture much older than ours and it will disappear in our lifetime if we continue on the course that we have set.
