"The mutant fish will escape, as sure as the sun sets every day," Sharon Labchuk of Earth Action P.E.I. said.
"Every day millions of fish escape from pens in the ocean... Just 60 mutant fish in a wild population of 60,000 will render that species extinct."
This monstrosity has already been approved for human consumtion in the US by the FDA and you can be sure that Canada will not be far behind. AquaBounty scoffs at critics who fear that AquAdvantage salmon can escape and thus contaminate wild stocks by claiming that all of the fish will be sterile females, with a margin of error between one and five per cent. So only between one and five percent of millions of fish will be fertile, well my math skills aren't very good but that seems like an awful lot of fertile fish to me.
Unfortunately, there are risks that accompany genetic manipulation. According to Lord Melchett, policy director at the Soil Association, once an animal's genes is introduced to those from another animal the "DNA becomes unstable, and there is no guarantee that these fish would remain sterile," which poses a huge risk to wild salmon, and could have devastating effects.
I don't know about anyone else but I certainly do not wish to eat these frakencreatures nor do I want to see our wild salmon rendered extinct whether from unsustainable fishing practices or greed and recklessness on the part of the Corptocracy. What's next Soylent Green
Soylent Green is people!
You tell everybody.
Listen to me, Hatcher. You've gotta tell them!
Soylent Green is people!
We've gotta stop them somehow!
