The bureau devised an informal system of requesting the records from three telecommunications firms to create what one agent called a "phone database on steroids" that included names, addresses, length of service and billing information. This has huge implications for all Canadians,if our government wanted to obtain our phone records, instead of justifying their desire in our courts all they would have to do is call their buddies at the Justice Dept. and voila. This is but one of a plethora of issues that could harm Canadians as we sell our souls in a vain attempt to garner easier access to US markets, access that will be fleeting at best and will be ripped away at the slightest whiff of threat to America, a nation that sees danger everywhere it looks.
From the equality of rights springs identity of our highest interests; you cannot subvert your neighbor's rights without striking a dangerous blow at your own. Carl Schurz

Still Think Deeper Integration With US Is A Good Idea - Think Again
A key component of Harper's plan to more deeply integrate Canadian and US border control is the sharing of security and personal information, while this happens now the proposed agreement will greatly ramp up this sharing of info. There are great dangers in this for Canadians, given how out of control the US security apparatus has become. An example is the Obama administration's Justice Department's assertion that the FBI can obtain telephone records of international calls made from the U.S. without any formal legal process or court oversight. read the story here If they will spy on their own people without a warrant, what is there to stop them from spying on us.
