Lies, damned lies, and statistics

Once again we are being played for fools.Statistics Canada is telling us that the core inflation rate is at it's lowest level since it began tracking the measure in 1984. The 12-month core rate was a 1.4 per cent at the end of January, with the overall inflation rate pegged at 2.2 per cent.

Our day to day reality tells a much different story, especially for those of us who live in B.C. or Ontario struggling to cope with the impact of the HST. Energy prices have risen 10.6% over the last year, gas prices between 13 & 15% and food prices, well as we all know they are increasing at a frightening pace. Yet we are told that inflation is falling, perhaps it is for the corporations and the elite, what with all their tax cuts and avoidance measures gifted to them by our governments of all levels and stripes. However for the rest of us it's pay,pay and pay some more, well past the point where it becomes painful.

We are faced with declining earning power, rising taxes, and the cost of life's necessities soaring through the roof and beyond, yet we are told that it must be all in our heads because the core inflation rate has never been lower,Lies, damned lies, and statistics, indeed.
